Director and adaptor Kip Williams understands how to infuse technology into plays, as seen with the Sarah Snook-led production of *The Picture of Dorian Gray*. He received raves for this new production: in a four-star review, The Guardian wrote, "Kip Williams dazzles again," noting there are "storming performances" in this "exhilarating" production.

In this version of *The Maids*, Williams examines the ways in which social media has become our own master: a beast we need and use to define ourselves. Audiences can expect a spellbinding production with an impressive design and digital feed to give a contemporary thrust to this 20th century work.

They portray two maids and their madame, and when madame goes away, the maids take turns role playing their boss. A psychosexual game of female power and domination begins.

This production comes from Donmar Warehouse in London to St. Ann's Warehouse in Brooklyn, a venue known for its audacious works including *The Jungle* and *Oklahoma!*, which went on to Broadway. Now, *The Maids* takes the stage, and it's “brilliant, a dazzling digital-age headrush," per The Stage. In this take on Genet's classic, the maids use social media to begin a game of cat and mouse, reveling in their exploration of power until reality and fantasy begin to blur. Williams is highly adept at remounting classics, as seen with his visionary production *The Picture of Dorian Gray*, which starred Sarah Snook and similarly utilized digital content for stirring visuals.

St. Ann's Warehouse was initially known as Arts at St. Ann's, located at the site of the former Church of St. Ann and the Holy Trinity on Montague Street in Brooklyn. Early productions were typically classical music performances.

In 2001, the theatre received its current name and moved to an old spice milling factory in Brooklyn's DUMBO neighborhood. The venue became known as "the intersection of theatre and rock 'n' roll," showcasing rock concerts as well as avant-garde theatre performances that included musical works, adaptations of classics, and puppetry.

After St. Ann's Warehouse staged an outdoor performance of *Macbeth* in a tobacco warehouse in DUMBO in 2014, the institution made that venue its permanent home.
